FIP Report Postcard Commission. May 2024

 

Exhibitions in the past twelve months which offered the Picture Postcard class:

EFIRO 2024. 19 multi-frame and 7 one-frame. Awards: 3 Gold, 4 LV

IBRA 2023 15 multi-frame and 2 one-frame. Awards: 2 Gold, 3 L V

Thailand 2023: 20 multi-frame. Awards:1 Gold, 6 LV

Taipei 2023: 6 multi-frame. Awards: 2 Gold, 1 LV.

The class is also offered at some upcoming exhibitions, including Jakarta 2024 and Shanghai 2024, but unfortunately not at Uruguay 2025.

Qualified Judges

Jeff Long was the only qualified judge initially appointed by FIP.  Since then, either by apprenticeship or cross-accreditation, Seija Riitta Laakso and Sammy Chui have been added to the list, but this is too small a number of judges for the number of FIP or regional exhibitions being run.  There are several exhibitors now with the exhibit requirements and experience to serve an apprenticeship or cross-accreditation, so hopefully some of these people will get a chance in the near future.

Seminars

FIP Seminars have been run by Seija Riitta Laakso at Thailand 2023, and by Jeff Long at Taipei 2023 and New Zealand 2023.  If invited, and approved by FIP, further seminars MAY be offered at Jakarta 2023 and Shanghai 2023.

Picture Postcard Website

A substantial amount of content has been provided by Jeff Long and Charles Bromser to get the site operative.  Hopefully, it will be live shortly.

Review of Picture Postcard Regulations

This was one of the tasks with which the interim Commission was tasked.  The members of the Commission have agreed with new Guidelines, and these will be formally considered shortly.

Elections

For Commission positions are scheduled for 2026.
